Ever heard of an astrology birth chart painting? Austin artist, Mickie Bellah, is painting astrology birth charts. Why, you ask?

"Why not," Bellah said. "These paintings are so powerful and contain information only the individual will see and understand. You can't get more personal than an individuals' birth chart," Bellah said. "No two birth charts in the world are the same," she continued.

Based on the year, month, day, time of day and geographic location of a person's birth, professional Astrologer Lance Ferguson, www.astimeschange.com, plots the individual's chart that also reveals the colors' in that individuals chart. "All planets and all signs have colors. Depending on their positions at the time of birth will determine the dominate colors in the painting," Ferguson said. "When Mickie delivered my chart painting it really hit me ... it was me, and only me on that canvas, very comforting, and very exciting to see how the colors worked," he said. "These are truly amazing," Ferguson commented.

The Astrology Birth Chart Paintings are a new addition to Bellah's repertoire of Surrealistic Abstract paintings which can be viewed at www.mickiebellahart.com. "I use the same technique for the birth chart paintings," Bellah said, "selecting the paint colors per the chart then wait for direction on how to apply them. I have no control over the finished piece."

Since the first showing of her paintings last June, Bellah has also had her work in a one woman show in Austin and was part of a juried exhibition sponsored by the National Arts Program Foundation, VSA arts of Texas and the City of Austin the month of December. One of her paintings, "Bottom of the Sea" received an Honorable Mention in the Professional Category and was then displayed at Austin City Hall in January 2004.

Bellah's work will be on display during February at Cafe Lago in Lakeway. New work will be included in a "Texas Creates" exhibition sponsored by the Texas Employees Retirement System in downtown Austin from mid-March through mid-September.
